I’m going to go ahead and coin the term “ugmanteau” (ugly portmanteau) to describe the word “blogiversary” and I’m not ashamed of either of them.
My very first post on this blog was on 25th September 2014, which makes my weird little website one year old today!
I can’t really remember why I started it. I already had a writer blog, kind of, but, since I wasn’t getting much writing finished (as you can see, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED) I didn’t have much to post about. So I guess I decided to start a general weirdness blog instead. I think I’m living up to that lofty ideal pretty well.
Here are a few of my favourite posts from the last year. Relevant gif is relevant:
Contains a true story about the time I tried to eat an apple (I believe in challenging myself) and failed miserably.
In which I have a go at being serious and urge you to accept compliments.
In the first “Things I Wrote When I Was a Kid” post, I objected to the Spice Girls in the strongest possible terms.
And, in probably the best “Things I Wrote When I Was a Kid” post, you got to read Issue 1: Volume:1 of Patti’s Gang.
In which I follow my dreams and am punished relentlessly for it by an imaginary squirrel.
I went to see the 2015 Disney Cinderella movie and had a lot of thoughts about it. It’s way too long but I think it’s funny. Make of that what you will.
If you have commented on, Liked or even just read my posts over the last year, thank you so much. It’s been so exciting to go from yelling into the void about how suspicious I am of fruit to actually having people read and enjoy my posts and I’m so grateful to anyone who has spent time on this bizarre blog.
